We meet this week in Tea Pavillion, Battle of the Boyne Centre, Co.Meath, at the usual 11 a.m. Sat.4th November. Weather may be cold so dress accordingly. Boyne Valley painters can handle the cold.
This is the main site of the Battle of the Boyne between King William of Orange and King James ll. 1690. At stake were the British throne, French dominance in Europe and Religious power in Ireland.
The Victorian Walled garden has been restored and is stocked with medicinal herbs similar to those used to treat the soldiers at the Battle of the Boyne.
There is a unique sunken Octagonal Garden with
plenty of shelter and a collection of classical sculptures (which should be of interest to anyone interested in portrait or figure painting.)
To get there:
Directions from Dublin: M1 to Exit 10.
Take first left onto SLANE Road. Continue to first cross roads and turn left for Oldbridge House/Battle of the Boyne Centre.
After crossing the metal bridge gates are immediately on your right.
