Yes, its great to hear the history. Plein air in this weather is certainly challengin. I went out today but it was very damp and very cold standing, maybe time for small studies from now on.

Thanks Sally and Norah. I didn't realize this was a Youth hostel - and one of the first at that!  David Fitzgerald did a nice watercolour of it when I was there with him a few weeks ago.

I must say I find plein-air oil painting a bit of a challenge ... but very enjoyable!

You’ve done a lovely job on what was originally one of the first Youth Hostels in the country (if not the first). I’ve tried to paint it myself but always found the drawing very difficult. No trouble to you. You got a very nice continuation of the curve of the wall down the slope, around the front of the building and then climbing up the hill.

I love the hint of the low sun lighting up the building Robert - a feeling of the day coming to a close
