I will let you know! We are going to persevere on through the winter. Maybe have to cheat a little and do plein air inside some places. Hope all is well there. I think about my Irish friends quite a bit, and really enjoy thinking about my time in Ireland.
I did take a few photos today. The day started out cloudy, chilly and a little bit breezy. By lunch time we were all pretty cold, so came in our house, had some soup, hot tea, and warmed up. There were only four of us, but that was ok. After lunch, the sun came out and was a gorgeous fall afternoon. I used my pastels today. One of my students came, and was so excited to paint outdoors. A bunch of other people who couldn't come today gave me lots of ideas of places to paint that I didn't know about.
Now...if we can convince some of you all to come over here, and paint with us, that would be great!
Karen, Karen, Karen----the last paint out of 2011--where's that Irish fortitude . But I do like hoisting a glass to the year---sorry I'll miss it---hate to miss endings and beginnings.
Hi Karen, thanks for the comment. I'm happy to be a part of the Plein Eire site. Being American, this is interesting and fun to connect with artists from across the ocean!
Thanks Karen....The Challenge is great. Would I face the soggy garden without it....NO....Squishy soil...etc....but its great. You folks seem to be out every weekend in the southeast. Great enthusiasm.
I see that you love to capture the light in your awesome oils. which reminds me that we are having a great weather here in Portugal, cold, but with lots of sun. I need to go out and paint! :)
Thanks Karen, only got Internet in February!! Looking forward to joining the Paint Outs. Am in Cappoquin doing Life Drawing for 3 days this week-end but hope to paint outdoors before too long. I will sing up for the SEPA as soon as I can figure out how to do it!:) Stasia.
Thanks Karen. Lovely to meet and be welcomed by you and the others. Appreciated the hot coffee and shelter, Paddy. Hope to get to future events and, wind permitting, even be able to paint!
Hi Karen, Just back from a week away, hence the delay. Like your boat painting - I struggled a bit this week on a couple of similar paintings, mainly lack of time (as family had to come first!) and getting soaked one day too!
Hi Karen, Of course you are right about the value of every painting... just wish I could get more that I am happy with! Plenty of subjects as you say, but not the weather at the moment... but then you would know about that in Ireland too!
Wish I could be there. We just had our daughter's wedding, and before that a big trip out to Wyoming to visit our other daughter. All the excitement I could handle this summer! But I certainly am thinking about everyone. Sounds like great workshops going on this year, and all the fun, and music!! I had SO much fun playing music with that group, it was one of the many, many highlights of last summer's AITO. I'll be watching for pictures of this year. Have fun!!
Karen,Thanks....the spot is marked with the odd splat of olive green etc. now that I know it so well its becoming a comfort zone.onwards...
.next Challenge....you have done well yourself...

Hi Karen,I must have got the wrong castle, large black gates on left hand side after turn to beach, saw no one there but have started painting anyways so the day hasn't been wasted
Great location Karen, really enjoyed the day out and thanks to Rosanna and the De Burghs for letting us paint in such a wonderful setting, would love to do a return visit in the new year to finish the painting.
So excited to meet you at AITO and yes I look forward to teaching in beautiful Ireland. I am so excited about having the opportunity to talk about how I make my paintings and share my workshop notes.
OK. We'll see if anyone else has an idea. I thought we were going to Hook but if the gang ain't going I won't go that far. I have been out during the week painting Ferrycarrig jetty and castle. I may just go back there if nothing definite is posted. And the hotel is handy for a bit of lunch...
Nice to meet you. It turns out that when I researched the Berlin workshop some more, that Fürstenberg is one and a half hours from Berlin, too far to travel from my friend's apartment in Berlin where I could stay. So it would not work for me. I live in Kansas City, do you ever visit the States?
