I think we need a return visit!

(And I'll boil the spuds tomorrow - I promise)

  • David Goldberg

Had the spuds to-night, mashed, exquisite to the palette.

Also had the turnip and it was sweet. Boy was that good.

  • Pat Holton

There won't be a spud or turnip left in County Meath .....perhaps we will have an evening of fun at Fagan's Pub Moynalvey at Halloween

I think everybody enjoyed their day...i certainly did

    Pat

  • Alison Fox

Eventually gave in, one nice big spud scrubbed clean, so left the skin on, to make thin fritters on the pan. Perfect tv snack!

  • Sally Downey

Some of the painters who remained on Saturday.  Thanks for a very interesting day Patrick.  Look forward to recipes for pumpkin dishes when the time comes.  Great to meet Valerie and David and learn their cooking tips.

  • deirdre moriarty

Looks like we will have to make a return visit. What about a nocturnal paint out on the night of October 31st next?  With jack o lanterns and a bonfire.

    oooooowwwhh.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

That sounds brilliant!  But I know I won't drive there and back in the dark.  A bit too far for me I'm afraid.

    But it sounds such fun!

  • Sally Downey

This is from today's paint-out.  Jessica and I decided that there were so many panes of glass missing from this greenhouse that it could be classified as plein air.

  • Pat Holton

Yesterday in Balbriggan.  I'd never been there before and it is an amazing place.  The beauty of joining up with a new group of painters from elsewhere is getting to see and go to places I wouldn't have thought of.  The PITA is the time I spend in the car getting to these beautiful places.  Well worth it!

  • anna d hurley

Where are we off to this week?

  • Norah Blount

Great day yesterday Dee at Sonairte, thank you for hosting it - well worth another visit and maybe the swimming togs and picnic for next time

  • Norah Blount

Thanks to Sally and Dee for sending me these photos - I put them all on one collage to save space here, thanks also to the college for allowing us full access to the college grounds.

  • anna d hurley

sorry to have missed recent outings and I wont be available until mid Nov. Pity. I wish you all the best with the paintings.

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

    This is

my new profile image, same as my face book one!

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

Sounds great! I plan on bringing my paints as well though. Would love to paint in Merrion Square or Stephen's Green.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

I plan on bringing my paints too!

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Thank you Sean for devising today's excursion.  I decided to throw my painting gear in the boot, and was lucky to find a parking spot right beside the entrance to the square.  This is how my painting of Merrion Square used to look.  But unfortunately the clips holding my canvases apart slipped, so my effort with require more tidying than usual.

I had a look see around the National Gallery, and met up with the others in Buswells.  An excellent day!

  • Inez Nordell

Sorry won't be available this Saturday but hope to join you all very soon. Have a great day in Malahide!!!

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

Thanks Caroline for Saturday's paintout. Although I did'nt do any painting due to weather I did get some interesting photos of storm conditions. Plus it was great to have coffee and chat with the gang.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Where were you on Saturday?  I didn't get an email.

Although on last Saturday the Dublin Plein Eire were in Bray.  Most of us painted from our cars.

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

I'm going over to Loughshinny Harbour/beach now to paint. If anyone fancies my mob is 0879542782.

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

Thanks Dee for organising Saturday paint out at Botanic Gdns. I had to rush as I had a slide presentation to prepare for Saturday night so did'nt get to join you all in cafe. It was a lovely day for it!

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Hi All,

Frank was saying that we haven't painted in Trinity College for ages soooo...

Next Saturday's paint out is in Trinity College Dublin.

We'll meet at 11.00am in the cafe in the National Gallery, and go over from there.

If the weather is poor, we can always stay in the Gallery - or draw and paint from under the colonnades of the classical buildings.

Wrap up warmly, and we'll meet back up in the National Gallery cafe at 3.00pm.

    |I'm posting this up in the events, and also inviting any of the Plein Eire Dublin group who would like to join us.

  • Norah Blount

Thanks Sally for yesterday and hope Dee is feeling better soon, these water hens were having a great battle on the Boyne yesterday as we headed out to paint

  • Sally Downey

Fantastic photo Norah. I made an effort from my side of the canal but all I got was ripples from their flight into the reeds.
  • Frank Hallinan Flood

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

Great turn out Malahide Castle yesterday, great to see you all!

  • Caroline Carroll

It would be great to get into the Walled Garden, though there is plenty to see and paint around the Castle.

  • Phil Hofler

Lovely painting Frank! Great time in Malahide.
  • Plein Eire Administrator

  • Norah Blount

Thank you Tony, I should have known it was under events but was using my phone which is so slow to move between categories

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Sorry I can't join you but I am in Belmont Nursing Home recovering from a knee replacement.

I have amazing views over Dublin Bay to Lambay Island, and when it is clear I can see the mountains of Mourne.   Maybe we should have a paint out in my room!

    Best wishes for Farmley.

  • Sally Downey

Looks like all went well, Valerie.  Mind you don't get too comfortable there, make a quick recovery and get back to the great outdoors.

Hope to be at Wexford meeting. I plan to suggest a new group covering South Kildare, Carlow, South and West Wicklow, North Wexford, Kilkenny, Waterford and a bit of Laois. In other words within striking distance of the M8 motorway. The overall aim would be to be complimentary to South East, Dublin and Boyne Valley Groups. This might mean arranging paint- outs which do not conflict with neighbouring groups. i.e arranging paint-outs on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

    Comments welcome!

  • Terence Gillespie

Oops.. That should have been the M9 Naas to Waterford Motorway

  • Valerie Syms Martin

That sounds good.  I've always been tempted to do that one!

  • David Goldberg

    I,m interested too. Sounds good,

  • Dee Crowe
