Hi John & Noelle. Unfortunately the dates this year clashed with other things for me during the Summer, and the one I went to attend near Maam got called off due to inclement weather. Now that I am back to work I can't attend the next two either, sadly....but hopefully next year. The ones I have been to are great, so I would encourage others to give it a go.
    Belinda.

    Hi Noelle

Yes I'll see you in Cong tomorrow - looking forward to the Paintout - the weather should be perfect for plein air painting - so let's have a good turnout!

  • Robert Devereux

Hello All, I may get some time to paint in Cong Tomorrow with you guys but should that change I will still call around and say hello, I would also like to do a small feature and photo op on the group just for our annual Cunga Magazine, I think it is important to show how strong the artists connection with Cong is and how vibrant and active the Pleineir group is., thanks Robert

  • Kieran Tobin

    Hi Noelle and John,

AS I texted you Noelle I have family commitments at the moment that prevent me from joining you, I hope you have a good day out  Regards.  Kieran

  • Norah Blount

Do you send a group email for paint-outs, its a good way of ensuring eveyone knows, and have plenty of notice

  • noelle angley

hello Robert, if I'd seen your email on time I d have got my hair done! See you in Cong!
    Noelle

LO AND BEHOLD! we had six artists in Cong. cappuccinos, scones and laughs in the autumn sun were folowed by the production of masterpieces which we later admired and praised over more cappuccino and cake.
  • venetia McEllin

`It was a great day.  Unusually I see promise in my 'masterpiece' and will be working on it (with the aid of photos - sunlight etc).  Roll on next Cong or nearby paintout! Thanks for all your hard work!!!

Here is an interesting and positive article from the Mayo News. Congratulations and success to Patsy Farrell and to Noelle Angley for organising Westport's first plein air event last year - hopefully, the first of many. Lets congratulate them.

  • Patricia Kavanagh

I just read the article on Westport's plain air event from Mayo News!  Well done Noelle and Patsy!

    2016 Hi All,

Another Summer of Painting upon us again and may it be a dry, warm and calm one! I have been out a fair bit...and the painting is good...there are a lot of nice paintings to be caught out there!

Would anyone of you like to suggest and lead a paint out?

    If so please reply. Dates (so far) for your Painting Diary;

    • 28 or 29th May- Ballinahinch Connemara TBC
    • Saturday June 18th Linenhall Arts Centre paint Out in Castlebar- the Victorian cricket green of the Lake shore maybe?? Meet at the Linenhall Arts Centre café at 11am.
    • Saturday and Sunday  October 8th and 9th; Westport Arts festival Plein Eir paint outs and Exhibition of Paintings. Await further details. This was a lovely event last year with 18 painters out and about. Very sociable with meal out for those staying over. Good sales at the Exhibition too!

Please answer, I always feel I am emailing the ether on this website!

  • Kieran Tobin

Hi Noelle. How about September 10th or 11th at Derryclare ? Regards. Kieran

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Hi Noelle.  I hope to make it to Ballinahinch at the weekend.  How about another paint out in Kinvara?  In June or July? It's a lovely spot!

Derryclare in September would be great Kieran!

    Regards, Patricia

  • Belinda Fair

    Hi Noelle.

I can`t commit to dates as yet, but will try my best to make some of the paint-outs this Summer. They are always enjoyable. I`m on for Kinvara Patricia.

  • Bernadette bradley

Want to go but so far from us maybe if it,s Saturday then we have Sun to get back to hold the fort!

  • Kieran Tobin

Hi. I won't make this weekend - I'm away for a few days. Kieran

  • noelle angley

Hi All, Ballinahinch on Sunday it is so. I'm afraid there is some football match on Saturday that a few want to watch. I have phoned the Hotel and said there'd be about 5 of us....a phenomenal turn out by more recent Plein Eire West standards.  Would you mind letting me know if you are coming so I can call them if numbers are to increase above 5...she was somewhat precise about numbers but I m sure more than 5 is just fine as long as I tell her.....and a lot of the scenery is actually just outside the hotel grounds. So far, Patsy, myself, and Des Downes are going...and you Patricia.?

As its a Sunday and the evenings are long, lets meet up for a coffee in the bar at noon? You can always get started  yourself earlier. Drinks of course around five/six  pm  again!

  • noelle angley

Hi All, I meant to say 2 more things.

    • Patricia would you like to set a date for Kinvara? How about July 2nd?
    • Bernadette- Apologies re Ballinahinch on Saturday, 3 had said Sunday suited them better. Could you still come?I hope to see you in Castlebar on the 18th June anyway.
    • John Dinan- A paint out in Roundstone in August?

    regards,Noelle

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Hi Noelle.  Yes, I'll be there on Sunday too.  Is it the castle hotel in Ballinahinch?

I have an exhibition opening in the Russell Gallery on July 2nd so that won't suit for Kinvara paint out.  However I'll get back to you all with a date. There are a couple of events in Kinvara, RNLI Family Day and Cruinniu na mBad, I need to check the dates for these so we don't clash with them.

    Regards, Patricia

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Ok, for those who are interested the RNLI Family Day in Kinvara is July 31st.  This is a great day out with loads of events to raise funds for the RNLI.  Cruinniu na mBad is from 19th to 21st August.

So how would July 9th or 16th suit for Kinvara paint out?

    Patricia

  • noelle angley

Hi Patricia, my diary is free but it is a huge drive from Westport. I dsay the 9th is better for me and I will try to make it, even make a weekend out of it .I have the impression the kinvara painters don't get these messages and need to be encouraged closer to the date. But so what if only 3 or 4 turn up, that's the typical number. Hope to see you tomorrow!
  • noelle angley

Hi Kieran, I failed to notice your message re Derryclare. That would be lovely. My personal preference is for the Sunday. Shall I add it to our diary? Pity you can't come today, the hot sun had me awake at sixth is morning and it's already very warm. I m bringing my swimming gear!
  • John Dinan

See you in Ballynahinch later! Beautiful day so far.

  • noelle angley

Be consoled those of you who missed ballinahinch...it bucketed down all afternoon. Admittedly we de camped for semi sunny Roundstaone and had a lovely time anyway!

  • Kieran Tobin

Sunday 11th September sounds just fine for Derryclare

  • noelle angley

Hi all, a late reminder I know....the Linenhall art centre paint out tomorrow in castlebar. Meet at the Linenhall cafe...ask a local for directions in the town centre... And then paint at the 'Green' near the courthouse. Call me if you need any help. There ll be an exhibition after this one in the LInenhall, should the turnout be good. I know there are TWO matches on, but ART is much much more important. ART lasts forever, matches come and go.
  • Deirdre Walsh

    Hi Noelle
I won't make this one as I am recovering from a virus . I hope to make the later paint outs . Would love to be there with ye . Deirdre
  • noelle angley

11turned up and all painted around the green until we were all rained off. Needless to say Ray, Peter, Des, John, and Stephen wanted to see the match and us ladies...well the coffee shop beckoned. Then a few of us met for a pint later...a not overly productive but very sociable day! John will be hosting a Cong outing !
  • Plein Eire Administrator

I'd say the coffee shop was the better option. ;-(

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Sounds like a nice get-together anyway Noelle.  The weather is a problem a lot of the time isn't it!

I am planning to host a day in Kinvara on Saturday July 9th along with Plein Eire member Belinda Fair.  I will confirm this nearer to the date.

  • noelle angley

Hi Belinda, I am now sorry to say I cannot make the weekend of the 9th. I am doing a painting course in Carrick on Shannon. Kinvara is actually almost a 2 hour drive from Westport....the way I drive.  However there are lots of plein eire members down that way. A lot of people attended to Kinvara meeting I attended some years back.

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Hi Noelle and the rest of the group.  I can't go ahead with the paint out in Kinvara on July 9th unfortunately.  My husband had emergency surgery last Tuesday and will probably be still in hospital for the rest of the week.  I'm sorry about cancelling and will arrange another day later in the season.  Patricia

  • Deirdre Walsh

We hope he makes a quick recovery Patricia . It is difficult to get out with all the rain lately . Hopefully see you at a later date .
  • Belinda Fair

Best wishes to Seamus for a speedy recovery Patricia. Hopefully weather will have picked up by next date.
  • noelle angley

Hi Patricia, best wishes to your husband for a full recovery. Another time.any one on for Cong on the 18th or19th? I m in training for the Wexford festival?
  • Kieran Tobin

Unfortunately I will be unable to go to Cong on this Saturday. I hope you all have a good day. Kieran

  • Deirdre Walsh

Not possible this Saturday . Catch ye soon Deirdre
  • Belinda Fair

I'm sorry. I was hoping to go, but it hasn't worked out. Enjoy :-)
  • Caroline Carroll

Thank You So Much John for accepting me to your Plein Eire West Group.  Hoping to be down there and to meet up with everyone.  A beautiful area of Ireland. Caroline Carroll.

  • noelle angley

John, you ll have no problem giving away that ticket, if fact my brother would like it! Come painting, much more fun!
  • Kieran Tobin

Hi Noelle, I won't be able to join you . I hope you have a good day .

  • Tony Robinson

Hi West of Ireland group! Am brining a 12-15 person artist group to Ireland from the US in Summer of 2019 but starting to plan now. Plan to stay in Oranmore, Galway and travel to the south to see sights and possibly paint. Anyone know of some spots between there and the Cliffs to try? Kinvarra town is an obvious place, any other suggestions? Anyplace around Russell Gallery to paint that you can suggest? All comments welcome. Thanks folks!

  • Joan Breen
