May I recommend that members of Plein Eire West post each paint-out under 'Events'. This has several advantages for your group but the main one, surely, is to announce your event to other Plein Eire members who may not (yet) be members of Plein Eire West but who may be delighted to come along and join you.

  • John Dinan

    Thanks for suggestion!

  • noelle angley

Hi, I ll be there on the 21st, I'm afraid I only saw the notice re today's paint out just now. See you next week! Happy painting today!

It was overcast in the morning but very warm (no midges)! Brightened up in the afternoon and we had a wonderful day painting. Looking forward to Sat 21st, good to know Patricia, Noelle, John and Neil Moynihan will attend. The more the merrier! I will post in events tomorrow.

    Hello All

I will be in Cong on Saturday around 10.30.  I suggest we meet in the church car park.  There are so many beautiful views to choose from including lots and lots of trees and the odd ruin!  Facilities are excellent with a great choice of cafes and pubs.

Hopefully lots of you will be able to come.

  • venetia McEllin

I'll be there!  Will take my own car Helen since I may have to leave early

  • noelle angley

See you there! Please arrange comfortable temperatures and 0mm rainfall!
  • HELEN VEALE

Great looking forward to seeing you again - Delphi seems like a long time ago.  If it rains we will have to have coffee in the Hungry Monk until it stops!

  • noelle angley

Are we painting in Roundstone on Saturday?
if so I'll be there. weather Forecast seems ok!
  • Margaret Barlow

    I will be there too!
  • HELEN VEALE

Noelle, hope to see you next Saturday.

  • HELEN VEALE

Sorry Noelle, I can't make it.  Hopefully  next year will be less hectic, or I will end up the home for the lost and bewildered!  Have a great day.

    Best wishes  Helen

Pleine Eire West has 47 members,42 of whom would seem to be dormant?
I painted alone today in 23degrees of autumnal glory. it would have been lovely if a few more had come along. The Roundstone meetings each had an attendance of about 4 members, and the Cong meeting had about 5. Any suggestions as to how we could make Pleine Eire West a more active group? Any new locations suggested?
there is one more paint out, Westport Town the first Saturday in October. We had a very good local turn out last year, some professional painters even, and a few from the Dublin Sketching Club attended. Drinks in the pub ensued.
    Hope you can make it!
  • John Dinan

Hi Noelle I'm so sorry you were alone today - and such a lovely day.  I just couldn't make it, as I texted you, but I share your frustration with the lack of attendance by the vast majority of the 'members' of the group.  I'll put my thinking cap on, but really the people who should be suggesting changes are those who don't show up.  Can we hear suggestions for next year from from any of you?

  • Deirdre Walsh

I have missed all of the paint outs this year......many reasons.

An evening paint out might get the adrenalin going for some people. On the few that I have been on I felt we were packing up when the light was getting interesting Would a 4.30-9pm session work I wonder.I appreciate the planning both John and Noelle do......and yes I will make Westport again this year.

  • Belinda Fair

    Hi.

I only managed to make Kinvara this year, as the other dates didn`t suit. Its a great day out though. Plenty of creativity, a great opportunity to meet like-minded people who are all willing to share ideas and experiences. There is certainly no sense of competition, regardless of the experience levels of everyone I have met. I intend to do my best to make it to more events next year. For those who haven`t made it to any of the days out yet, give it a go. It`s most enjoyable :-)

  • noelle angley

Hi there, I'd be on for some evening meetings next year as we shall be on Flexi time then which will allow me out.
PS I intend to go back to Delphi on Friday about noon to finish my painting if any one would like to join me! Approach from aasleigh falls, drive along north side of killary harbour to a little inlet where the bundoraghagh [speling???) river flows into the sea, I ll be near the bridge with a little white van car.

  • John Dinan

Hi Deirdre So sorry I won't make it - have committed to babysitting in Dublin for the weekend a long time ago. Hope you get a good turnout - Clonbur and surrounds is one of my favourite painting spots.

  • noelle angley

See you there rain, hail or snow...or hopefully sunshine!

  • Deirdre Walsh

Great Kieran and Noelle....and next time John. !

Varied landscape around Clonbur and nearby Finney.....so the more the merrier.

    Deirdre

  • Deirdre Walsh

Thanks Helen Noelle Kieran for coming out Saturday.

Clonbur looked stunning despite a canopy of rain. ! We braved it after interesting chat at Eddie's Bar.An area worth exploring!

    Deirdre

  • noelle angley

Yes I greatly enjoyed the 1.5hour pre paint chat , the charming village of Clonbur, and the glorious scenery.well worth heading out. And Helen, the strawberries were fab!
  • John Dinan

Sounds a great day out - what about showing some of the paintings/sketches? That would be interesting for those of us who couldn't get there.

  • Patricia Kavanagh

    Hi Noelle.

I'm just wondering if we're going ahead with the paint out at Kieran's today?  What's the weather like at Derryclare?   It's lashing here in Oranmore.

    Patricia

  • Patricia Kavanagh

How do I reply to emails about paint outs?

The email address from which they come is do-not-reply@pleineire.ning.com

    Advise please!

  • Norah Blount

I think you can reply to them from your in-box here - under your name on top right hand corner of screen.  If you reply to these in your gmail area then they do not get to the recipient. Better wait and see what the admin advises :) .  I think there are still lots of members doing this and wondering why they do not get replies to some emails

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Thank you Norah and PE Administrator.  I thought I was the only one having trouble with this.  It would be good if we had an easy way to communicate here or at least one that we all use.  The weather is always so unreliable we need to know how to keep in touch especially on the day of a paint out.  Thank you Noelle for your emails this weekend and sorry for not being able to answer them. Patricia

  • Patricia Kavanagh

Thank you Kieran for your kind invitation to paint at your home today.  I travelled as far as Moycullen but eventually had to accept that the rain was not going to stop!  So disappointing!  Patricia

  • noelle angley

Hi, I did issue a message cancelling yesterday, obviously you were on the road already. We're meeting today at Lough Inagh lodge today at 11 if you can make it. It will be raining then, but is set to clear hopefully after coffee!
  • Patricia Kavanagh

Hi Noelle.  Yes I did get your message about the cancellation yesterday.  I was on the road alright but I saw it on my phone.  I was only a few minutes from town so it wasn't a problem for me at all.  I really appreciate the efforts you and many others are making to try to organise paint outs.  I'd love to meet up today and might make it in the afternoon.  Thanks again Noelle.

  • Deirdre Walsh

It was lovely to meet at Lough Inagh Lodge today....quite amazing scenery at every turn. I have nothing to show after the day but explored roads through the mountains.....one of those days when you dont know where to stop. Thanks for organizing Noelle.

  • noelle angley

Yes it was fabulous, despite the threats of car eating  horse foals and human eating donkey foals.

I think we should give this area a go again in the Autumn when there is more colour variety. tea and scones at Lough Inagh lodge at 11am make for really good painting too!

  • noelle angley

How was last saturdays paint out in Roundstone?

  • John Dinan

    Hi Noelle

Last Saturday in Roundstone was fabulous - best sunniest day of the Summer so far; Painted in the old harbour, some participants from my workshop stayed over and painted as well. Sadly, only one PleinEireWest member turned up - Patsy - and he did two lovely pastel paintings. It says something that beautiful paintable Roundstone can only muster two members in the height of Summer. Time for reflection perhaps. Comments from members welcome. Below is my Paintout painting.

  • noelle angley

Hi john, Yes I too again have been disappointed with the lack of attendance at all events this and last year. And again apologies for not coming to roundstone, it was my mothers birthday. There are 2 enters left, this coming Saturday in Cong, and the 2 day paint out in westport town on the 3 and 4 th October. I hope people can come to these.any suggestions out there to encourage the remaining 47 members to attend a paint out?
