    Beautiful work Jean!

Sorry we didn't get to meet up hey - there's always next time.

Saturdays suit me too, but there is nothing to stop somebody else arranging a paint out for a Sunday or two...

  • Norah Blount

    Beautiful painting Jean

  • Jean English

Thanks you two! (Never sure about my work....)

    Hi All,

This month's paint out is in Bray Harbour.

Meet at 11.00am in the Harbour Bar.  There are plenty of parking spaces, and if you like you can bring bread to feed the swans.

Be sure to wrap up warmly - plenty of layers - and pray fro good weather!

  • Frank Hallinan Flood

Hi Valerie  Is that Saturday or Sunday?

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Saturday.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

The Harbour Bar doesn't open until 12.00!  I'm going along at 11.00 and will paint in the car until then.

The bar is a wonderful place to paint.  Delightful clutter everywhere.  I'm sure the bar owner would love the custom.

Or you can paint from your cars as I'll be doing.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Hi,

I can't be there on 1st March.  Can somebody else plan the Paint Out please?

    Thanks.

  • Terence Gillespie

How about combining with Boyne Valley for a paint-out in the Botanic Gardens. See Boyne Valley for details.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Excellent idea!

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Extra Paint Out!

    No charge!!

    Hi All,

Frank was saying that we haven't painted in Trinity College for ages soooo...

Next Saturday's (8th March) paint out is in Trinity College Dublin.

We'll meet at 11.00am in the cafe in the National Gallery, and go over from there.

If the weather is poor, we can always stay in the Gallery - or draw and paint from under the colonnades of the classical buildings.

Wrap up warmly, and we'll meet back up in the National Gallery cafe at 3.00pm.

I'm posting this up in the events.

  • Jean English

Thought I'd be able to join you but remembered I'll be in Nenagh this weekend..... would have loved to though, hopefully will catch up next time.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas about where to go for April's paint out?

I'm afraid  I can't be there as I will be doing a paint demo at the Dublin Painting & Sketching Club's annual exhibition in the Town Hall in Dunlaoghaire.

The opening is on Sunday 30th March at 2.00pm.  Please consider yourselves invited.

  • Norah Blount

A paint out in Dunlaoighre would mean getting 2 in one - a visit to the exhibition and  a paint out ?

  • Valerie Syms Martin

    Excellent idea!

But could someone else host it please, as I will be rather involved in the demo and its aftermath.  Myself, Brigid Flynn and Michael Gemell will be read out a bit of prose, and our paintings will be our responses to it.  I'm to be representational, Brigid is to be semi-abstract, and Michael's response will be completely abstract. That is to be from 1.00 - to 12.30pm.

In the afternoon, Aidan Hickey and Joan Kavanagh will paint their response to a piece of music from 2.00 - 3.30pm.

Why don't people meet up at the first bit, have lunch in one of Dunlaoghaire's many eateries, and then go along to the second bit.

All the members of the DPSC committee will be there, and anyone interested in joining the club will have a chance to talk to them.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Would the Boyne Valley Plein Eire group like to join us for the day?

  • Carole Ann Margaret Cullen

looking forward to Dun Laoghaire paint out and ddmo
  • Norah Blount

What date is the demo Valerie

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Saturday 5th April.  The Dublin group normally go out on the first Saturday of the month.

  • Norah Blount

It might be a good idea to vary the dates for the Dublin paint-outs (the first sat alywas seems to be busy for me anywat) and get as many hosting as possible as it gives everyone a chance to see somewhere new they may not have been to before.  if you know somewhere suitable but cannot host there is a facility on the events page to nominate someone else to host.  Hope the demo goes well, I hope to get out to the exhibition sometime over the 2 weeks

  • Jean English

Hey there.... will there be a paint out in the morning or after the demos in Dun Laoighaire? And if morning where is the meet up?

  • Norah Blount

Great exhibition Valerie, hope to get out again midweek before it closes as it was so busy last sunday - well worth a visit and hope the demo goes well.  I am doing a workshop in Kennedys on sat as otherwise I would have called out again for the demo

  • Valerie Syms Martin

There was no Dublin Plein Eire paint out yesterday, although I know that siome members joined up with the Boyne Valley Group.

Personal stuff means that I can't get out and about at the moment, so could someone else please take on organizing of the paint outs?

  • Michael Keogh

Hi All - I am unsure how to do this but here goes.  I can organise a  paint-out at the Irish National Stud on Saturday 7-June. I have already got their agreement and I suggest we meet in their  Café 10-30-->11am. The Irish National Stud is just 2km from exit 13  on M7 and is well signposted. I don't know if anyone has already made other arrangements for that day and I don't want to clash. No doubt someone will let me know!

  • Valerie Syms Martin

No clash at all Michael, and thanks for taking the helm.

  • Michael Keogh

Reminder to all. Hope to meet up with you at the Irish National Stud next Saturday 7-June.  I have arranged complimentary day passes for all Pleine Eire artists!  Lovely Cafe open all day. The Irish National Stud is just 2km from exit 13 on M7 and is well signposted. The plan is to meet in the Cafe 10-30 ->11am.

  • Norah Blount

Michael, you might need to post this as an event or else send emails to the group (go to group and see "send message" to group) as I think most people check out the events page or find out by the emails sent by the host.  We are in Kildare on sat so might make it - the Japanese gardens nearby are another possibility

  • Michael Keogh

Thanks Norah I will do that.  I will also point out that the Japanese Gardens and Irish National Stud are all the one property and available to us all.

  • Geraldine Donohoe

Hope to join you on Saturday Michael

  • Bernadette McCarthy

Thanks Michael.  I'll be there and look forward to it.  Last year was very enjoyable.

  • Gerri McCaffery

I haven't been out with the group yet but I'm hoping to make it tomorrow, weather permitting. I work in pastels and they really don't like the rain.

Fingers crossed, looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow.

  • Norah Blount

That was a beautiful location and thank you Michael for organising it and for the tickets.  I am afraid I wont get around to finishing my wc as I am packing for holidays.  Thank you again, Norah

  • Valerie Syms Martin

Looks good Norah.  Maybe you will get back to it.

I was overly influenced by the weather forecast.  I'd have been there if I'd known the weather was going to be so good.  There isn't too much walking in the Japanese gardens.

I go in to have a total knee replacement this week.  And I hope to be back on track shortly.

  • Gerri McCaffery

Norah, that's beautiful. It was lovely to meet everyone today. Thanks, Michael for organising it.
I might get around to finishing mine at some stage.
  • Norah Blount

    A few pics from today

  • Gerri McCaffery

    Nice shots, Norah!

Hope to be at meeting in Wexford. I plan to suggest a new group covering South Kildare, Carlow, South and West Wicklow, North Wexford, Kilkenny, Waterford and a bit of Laois. In other words within striking distance of the M8 motorway. The overall aim would be to be complimentary to South East, Dublin and Boyne Valley Groups. This might mean arranging paint- outs which do not conflict with neighbouring groups. i.e arranging paint-outs on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

    Comments welcome!

  • Michael Keogh

Sounds great Terry.   I'm behind you all the way. Make it close to the M9 motorway too !  3rd Saturday of the month sounds like a great idea.

  • Terence Gillespie

Thanks Michael..... that should indeed have the M9 Naas to Waterford motorway.

  • Valerie Syms Martin

The South Dublin Group will be back up and running VERY soon. Just not maybe on Saturdays. I'll post up whenever I think I'll be out and anyone around will be very welcome to join me.

Nobody else took the group over when I couldn't do it, and the first Saturday of the month doesn't always suit me.

I love joining up with PVPE, but sometimes the driving is a bit much.

So I'll be posting up events for South Dublin PE. Please join me if and when...

And if anyone wishes to co-host, you are more than welcome!

  • Josephine Boland

I live in the West, but visit Dublin regularity and hope to join you some Saturday, or whenever. Once frost thaws!

Tomorrow I'll be in St. Endas Park around 11am to 3pm. The weather forecast is great. Hope to see you there. My phone number: 0851637759.

  • Carole Ann Margaret Cullen

Sorry Svetiana thought St Endas was near Raheny but of course it is Rathfarnham. Any one willing to organise something in the Dun Laoghaire area ?
  • Valerie Syms Martin

I feel guilty that I let the Dublin baton slip, but I had a total knee replacement last summer, which takes time to recover from.

At the same time, my Mum was very ill and I was with her as much as possible, 24 hours a day at the very end.

It takes time to recover from.  We painted together and were great friends.  Now my other knee has had a mishap and looks as if it will need to be replaced soon.  So I can't resume the baton right now.  It's great that Svetlana is posting up places.  I was painting in Ballybrack village yesterday, but that was cos a perfect parking place was available and I had my stuff in the car.

Where are you going tomorrow Svetlana.  I'm free then.

  • Plein Eire Administrator

Don't feel guilty, Valerie. You did your bit but the truth is if one person takes responsibility others tend to back away. It is better with a group or a rota and everyone asked to get involved.

Here's a Howth Harbour event, too:

    http://pleineire.ning.com/events/howth-harbour-paintout-meet-marine...

  • Plein Eire Administrator

The only 'organising' really is posting where and when under 'Events'. Basically, one is only making a commitment that the organiser will be there on time. That's all there is to it. If it is a place you know well, you won't even have to do a recce but if not, it may be a good idea to check it out for a cafe and parking etc.

As for posting under 'Events', that is easy - a 2 minute job - and if you haven't tried, have a go. Test it to see how it works. You won't crash the site and you can delete it straight away.

  • David Goldberg

Hope to paint on Howth Head to morrow. I was there last week and it was windy and cold but great painting subjects. Anyone wants to join in you will find me on the cliffs direction Bailey Light house.
