FREE ART WORKSHOP - SATURDAY 27th OF AUGUST - I.00pm - 4.00pm. We are delighted that the artist Cornelius Browne will once again join us for a workshop this Saturday.

THE POETRY OF PAINTING: This one-day workshop focuses on using plein-air painting techniques to produce landscapes that embrace the poetic. Each artist shall be invited to give their creativity free rein within an atmosphere of complementary learning. Topics covered will include the influence of weather and wayfaring, the nature poetry of Edward Thomas and Alice Oswald, the primitive power of James Dixon and Alfred Wallis. There may even be time to glimpse Derek Hill through the eyes of Seamus Heaney.

Cornelius Browne began painting under Donegal skies in his early teens, and was helped and encouraged by Derek Hill. Cornelius studied painting at the National College of Art and Design, graduating with an honours degree in Fine Art. He worked for many years at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. He has exhibited at the Blackbird Gallery, the RHA Gallery, the Frederick Gallery, the Glebe Gallery, King House, An Grianan Theatre, and is currently represented by the McKenna Gallery in Omagh. His paintings are in collections in Ireland, Britain, Greece, and Russia. His recent solo exhibition at the McKenna Gallery was entitled "Weathering".
Please bring your own art materials, easel and chair. Dress for outdoors and wear appropriate footwear.
Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to join Cornelius for this unique workshop.
