Ok I'll just head out from here somewhere close. Can't let the opportunity go to waste when himself has taken the kids off out!

Here are a few suggestions of venues following a coffee/chat today at Johnstown Castle. Please add your own suggestions and we'll get a schedule together for the coming weeks. In particular, it seems smaller villages where we have access to coffee and a bite and a chance to say'hello' are sought-after venues.

    Kilmokea Gardens

    Ballinkeele House

    Newtownbarry House & Gardens

    Dunamore Wood (Borodale) (no facilities)

    Rosslare Harbour Lagoon

    Tinahely

    Wexford Beaches

    Wexford Gardens

As ever, it is weather permitting, so in case the organiser needs to cancel, please indicate by RSVP for each event so a single message will let everyone know if an event is 'On' or 'Off'.  Thanks.

  • Jan Ryan

Great to see a list of possible venues, hope you all had a good day today

  • Louise Treacy

Couldn't get there yesterday chest infection didn't want to re start it off again.
  • Sheila Mac Nally

Looking forward to all/any of these, hope to get out on Sunday if ye are going anywhere
  • Michael McGuire

I'm sure if the weather is reasonably OK, we'll go somewhere.

  • Tony Robinson

Posted Kilmokea for 10 April. I'm a city boy and no good at gardening. Is this late enough for a decent showing?

Okay, lets have some other postings, starting this weekend...?

  • Marja van Kampen

Posted Enniscorthy under events for this Sunday 6th March. Hope to see you all there. We will meet at the Cotton Tree Cafe at the old bridge at 11 am. The weather is looking good for Sunday.

  • Michael McGuire

Yes, Enniscorthy is a good idea, Marja. Weather looks OK but, even if we get a few showers, at least it's possible to find some shelter there. I'll re-send the event as a group e-mail.

  • Tony Robinson

Early next week I will email Emma at Kilmokea with an idea of numbers attending next Sunday's Paint-out as she has kindly agreed to let our group in for no charge.. If you mean to go, please RSVP HERE. Thanks!

  • John Moriarty

we're in - but its Sunday 10th innit? Dick has Foulksmills up for Sun 3rd April.

  • Tony Robinson

Yes, Kilmokea is on 10th. Foulksmills is tomorrow. But I'm asking anyone intending to go to Kilmokea next week to let me know this weekend so I can give an estimate to Emma at Kilmokea.

  • Michael McGuire

    Count me in, Tony.

  • Marie-Christine O'Brien

     Count me in too, Tony.

  • yvonne lunde-andreassen [vonnie]

  • Sheila Mac Nally

I'm going to head to Morriscastle beach in Kilmuckridge tomorrow to paint, v last minute I know but I think I'll have to miss yet another Sunday this weekend. There are toilets at the carpark and a cafe but I don't know if it'll be open so I'll be bringing a flask anyway. If anyone is tempted to join me I'll head left along the beach from the path.
  • Sheila Mac Nally

Oh and I should be there from about 10.30
  • Dick Donaghue

Sheila what's yer mobile number in case we decide to go?

  • Jane Meyler

Hi everyone...Tagoat community are having an open day at Yola Farm this Saturday afternoon the 25th June between 1pm and 4pm and have invited Myself and any interested artists that would be available to come along and paint out among the grounds during the open day. Yola Farm is now belong to the community and is run by local volunteers and teachers from the school. They have done great work here with the kids and have a youth club held every Saturday. THe grounds are full of old thatched home steads and wooded areas with a stream..plenty to paint. Access to Yola is through the housing estate Pugin Park...turn right after St. Mary's national school and drive straight ahead through Pugin Park and down the lane that leads to the Youth club. I'll be definitely there so hopefully some of you are free to join me...cheers! Jane :)

    Moville House,

    Screen

I'm told it has a walled garden & courtyard.  We met the owner, Mary Spain, who told me about it, and said the group would be welcome, but I suppose someone would have to check & arrange  first.  I have her phone number.

  • Dick Donaghue

Hi John. Give me her name and number and I;ll contact her re paint out. Great to have another new venue/

  • Terence Gillespie

Hi folks, For some reason I have had a lot of problems with the Plein Air website and have been unaware for some time of planned paint-outs.

Are paint-outs in the South East only notified to a select circulation lists now or has communication generally moved to to Face Book or some other new fangled system that is designed to confuse old fogies like me?

If there are select circulation lists  -- please add my name -- I promise to be well behaved.

  • Dick Donaghue

Hi Terence, I am co ordin ating the paint outs at present. I have sent a friend request to you and will contact u each week we have a paint out. Usually Thursdays before. Also I have recently discovered how to send to the whole SEPA group. So please make sure u are signed up to that group. See you soon hopefully.

  • Geraldine Donohoe

Terence, I asked Dick to add you on to his emails. Thanks again Dick for organising a great day
  • Karen Scannell

Thanks for all your work Dick !

Hi Terrence, there's a little blip in the system when arranging paintouts. When someone posts an event, the system asks .. "send to all your friends" ? . It means that the invite has to be sent twice, to the persons friend list, and then the link posted in a message to the group. The easiest way is for anyone to arrange a paintout is to  "friend all members of South East Plein Air...or to do the double whammy on it  :)

  • Sheila Mac Nally

FYI I get all the updates from the group, the email and comments here so there may be something in your email preferences not ticked?
  • John Moriarty

Try going to you personal section - email - and turn all notifications on..if you get too much traffic then turn a few items off.  I have it all turned to 'on' and am not  inundated.

  • Dick Donaghue

Thanks Karen and John. I see I can now send to all members of group with one fell click. Great.

  • Kevin Freeney

It's not the usual kind of Paint out but all of us SEPA members did receive an invitation to Coueron on the weekend of 12-15 May. The Colours Of Brittany festival will be in the town on the Saturday. The good people of Coueron, Wexford's twin town, will put up and feed up to ten artists.
All we have to do is get there, that is, to the airport in Nantes. Anybody interested?
  • David Goldberg

Kevin, I am interested. My wife would like to come too and hope that won't upset the good people of brittany. Can you let me know. David

  • Karen Scannell

Unfortunately I can't go, but have wonderful memories of the same trip a few years ago.

  • Sheila Kissane

Hi South East, I've just joined and am a novice...if you are doing a paint out some weekend near Wexford will you give me a shout.. Want to have a look and try it before I sign up to a workshop with the pleinair festival in Wexford...i mainly do abstract painting with oils but I need to learn proper techniques!! Sheila
  • Dick Donaghue

HI Sheila, we are planning to start the paint-outs at the end of the month. First suggestion has been to paint at St. Mullins. So we will see you there hopefully. I will add you to my list so that you get notification a few days in advance.

  • Karen Scannell

I'm away at the moment. Sorry to miss the paint out today, will hope to make it later in the year. Hope ye had a great day !

  • Plein Eire Administrator

Couleurs de Bretagne is a plein air festival linking various one-day paint-outs throughout Brittany. One of these, on the weekend of 13/14 May 2017 is in Coueron, with which small town Wexford is twinned. Artists are invited to take part and some home hosting with local families is offered via our contact there, Ms. Jackie Menard. Flights from Dublin to Nantes, which is close to Coueron are around €80/90 with Ryanair.

So far, Kevin Freeney, Jim Doolan and David Goldberg have expressed a desire to take part. Any painters wishing to join them should contact Jackie at jadimenard@LIVE.FR .

  • Sheila Kissane

Thanks Dick. I need to get supplies..Im planning on going to a drawing workshop monday week. Im a beginner so not quite set up yet!
  • Sheila Mac Nally

Glad to see you are getting started again, I hope to be out soon! Welcome Sheila K, jump in at the deep end is my advice, you'll learn on the job and they're not a scary bunch (mostly) from another reasonably newcomer Sheila!

  • Dick Donaghue

  • Tony Robinson

Please remember our good friend,Terence Gillespie and his wife Nancy in your thoughts and prayers while Terence is in intensive care at St. Luke's hospital in Kilkenny. Terence is a very long-standing member of SEPA and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

  • Tony Robinson

Sad to report the news that our friend Terence Gillespie died in hospital today. He was a quiet man and a true gentleman who loved company and painting and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially his dear wife, Nancy.

  • Karen Scannell

Terrence will be very sadly missed...kind, intelligent and witty, he was an avid supporter of our Plein air group attending many paintouts and events. He loved the commeradery, and the chance to practice his love of art. He made a lasting impression on all who met him...a true gentleman. . we have no word yet on arrangements for his funeral. I will be in Dublin on Tuesday to collect Ned, but if arrangements are before then, I have room in my car for a couple of people. Just let me know if you d like to attend. Rest in peace Terry
  • Kevin Freeney

Yes, we'll all miss this true witty and gentle gent.
  • Michael McGuire

Terry always brightened up the day, when he turned up for a paint-out. I'll miss our discussions (sometimes borderline arguments!) about painting. A huge intellect, but beneath it all a true gentleman and just a really nice guy.

  • Norah Blount

Terrence was indeed a true gentleman, he often joined us and it was a pleasure to have his company, his wide cheeky grin which followed a witty comment was always sure to cheer us up.

  • Louise Treacy

Sad news indeed to hear of Terence passing. A pleasure to have known and enjoyed his company at many a paint out and social occasion.
Terence will be sorely and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. RIP Terence .
  • David Goldberg

I am deeply saddened to learn of Terrence's demise. He was a great man, a good painter, and he showed an extraordinary knowledge of so many things.

  • Sally Downey

Very sad to hear of the death of Terence. He was a true and gentle gentleman.
