I am away at the moment Dick, so ill miss anything up to 18th march
  • Michael McGuire

Nothing planned, Dick. At the moment Sunday looks like it may be wet again. Saturday looks like being dry and mild. I'll go on Saturday if anyone else is interested.

  • Jan Ryan

I am new to the group but my tuppence worth is that I do like to know in advance where the Paint-out is. And scheduling for every second Sunday works great for me. The weather does not bother me as long as I have the right gear. Must buy an umbrella. :-). Unfortunately cannot make this weekend.

  • Louise Treacy

Ho hum just got my rejection for paint Annapolis '15. So SPILL, which Wexford artist got the spot in the event. Best of Luton ya
  • Karen Scannell

Looks like I got through to Annapolis this Year...Feel horrible now lou, as I thought there'd be a  group of us going.....Anyone else get through ?

  • Michael McGuire

Oh, the competition is fierce! Looking forward even more to Altthymen now - it could be paint-brushes at dawn! Only joking, Karen, well done you!

  • Louise Treacy

Congratulations Karen, good on ya, best of luck in the event, I haven't seen the list yet, but for the last few years it's been almost eighty per cent of the previous years entrants selected. I don't know if anyone else entered only myself and Jane but neither of us got into the event. There could be others from the rest of Ireland though or Europe. Sure that's the way the cookie crumbles, ya pays your money and takes your chance lol. Just like the lotto.
  • Dick Donaghue

Well done Karen. Keep the auld SEPA flag flyin'

  • Karen Scannell

Thanks Michael,Lou and Dick...Hopefully another Wexford artist will be going too, we'll see....

  • David Goldberg

    Very well deserved. Congratulations.

  • Karen Scannell

    Hi David..thanks :)

  • Geraldine Donohoe

Congratulations Karen and commiserations to all 'refusés'.  Remember all the famous refusés painters....

    Love to all

    G xoxo

  • Plein Eire Administrator

Congratulations to Karen, on being the first invited guest of 'Paint Annapolis 2015'. Places are in high demand at this prestigious event. Remember, Karen won this honour by applying for a place that is set aside for a Wexford artist. This special honour reflects the fact that Wexford and Annapolis are twinned 'sister cities'. We hope the organisers will keep the door ajar for years to come with keen interest from our side, so do apply next year. If you're not in, you can't win.

Karen will have to make her own way to carry the purple and gold proudly on our behalf in Maryland USA, so our thanks as well as congratulations are due. Sock it to 'em!

    To apply next year: http://www.mapapa.org/paintannapolis

  • Jan Ryan

Thanks Jan, and Plein Eire Admin...It's a wonderful area steeped in history, with great places to paint....looking forward to it !

  • Rita Lett

Wishing you a successful trip to Annapolis Karen, keep the Irish flag flying and have fun.  I'm sure Myles Murphy will be their to welcome you,

  • Karen Scannell

Thanks a million Rita...Is Myles another Wexford Artist ? great if so !
  • Karen Scannell

...I thought I recognised the name Rita...he was AIO a few years ago ?? Does he live in Annaplois ?

  • Rita Lett

Karen, Myles Murphy lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.  He is an Irish artist.

He is included in one of the video's made a few years ago at the AITO.

Look up his website.  He would be delighted to hear from you.

  • Karen Scannell

Ah yes..thanks Rita..I think Indianapolis is a way away from Annapolis though..Lovely guy,I remember him now. Thanks for remembering him, Rita ..

Paintout Sunday 19th April at Tintern Abbey at 11am carpark. Last week was a

bit of a washout!! This week weather looks good anyone interested. Cafe not open

    so bring own refreshments!

  • Louise Treacy

As usual Annie If I head that way Sunday it will be a bit further to hook or baginbun.Tinterm just does nothing for me. Grey grey and more grey, don't like the place at all. I did drop in to the place last Sunday mm my way to hook but no sign of any of ye. It was probably before any of ya got there, around 10.15 BUTit was well worth goin mm to hook cos it was spectacular with the storm.
  • Michael McGuire

What about meeting in Fethard and maybe painting in and around my favourite headland, Baginbun, if the weather is good. There's Neville's Pub in the village which always does good lunches as well as a few cafes, so toilet facilities nearby anyway. The headland is very similar to Hook Head, but more spectacular, if anything. But I'm happy to paint anywhere really.

  • Louise Treacy

I think weather is to be good alright yes I'd be up for that anyway if I amigetting out at least I know I will have lots to paint oh yeah there is a kind of event down at hook on sat and sun 25 26 th met a lady organising it ask Trish in spectrum she has t.D poster, I won't be here Or I would have gone.
  • Jan Ryan

Would love to paint in Baginbun another time but I feel that as I have never painted at Tintern I need to give it a go first :-)

  • Louise Treacy

Oh I thought you were there last week?
  • Michael McGuire

Do you want me to send a group message, Jan, that you want to have another go at the TIntern event this Sunday, since it was a washout last week?

  • Jan Ryan

    Please do Michael.

Louise none of us painted last week, bitter cold and wet and windy :-(.

  • Michael McGuire

I just sent a group message, Jan. Hope to see you there on Sunday.

  • Jan Ryan

    Great Michael, thanks.

  • Louise Treacy

Oh sorry , I of course, went on down to hook and while it was wild and rain for a good while, it did clear up long enough for me to do that big paintin!! As I said I did call into tinterm but no one around.
  • Michael McGuire

Sure drop in at some stage this Sunday too Louise if you're heading down that way. I might head down towards Baginbun or the Hook later in the day anyway, if the weather is good and I'm not too tired that is. But I'll get one in at Tintern first anyway - the woods should be full of wild garlic and maybe even some early bluebells.

  • John Moriarty

    see you there everyone.

  • Louise Treacy

Right Michael maybe ill have a look to see what it's like at tinterm first tomorrow, trying to get my gear ready, panels etc frames for Wednesday to bring and leave with Nik, going to bring three for oils andmmaybe just mounts and cellophane for water colour, cos they will look better in the church done out like that might bring one frame for w c just in case I do a nice one
  • Dick Donaghue

We'll be there at Tint also.

  • Louise Treacy

Looks like a great day out there!!! Hook peninsula here I come. Might see some of ya down there will swing into tinterm on The way perhaps.it's to cloud up later so prob best to get goin early.
  • John Moriarty

    looking forward to today

  • Sheila Mac Nally

Thanks for adding me to the group, hoping this will be the year I get to paint more!
  • Dick Donaghue

Hello. Anyone going out Plein Airing on Sunday (tomorrow) I'm thinking of going to Ferrycarrig Hotel, Estuary, Castle.. if nothing else has been arranged.

  • Karen Scannell

I can't travel far...so anywhere around that radius is good by me...

  • Sheila Mac Nally

I might come if ye are def going- what time?
  • Michael McGuire

Just back from a day plein-airing down Fethard direction. But I'm up for it again and around the Ferrycarraig Hotel would really suit me tomorrow. The public car park beside the Hotel would be a good place to meet. What time? 11-00 am is our usual time, but the best light is often earlier this time of year. I'll probably go there around 10-00 am, maybe earlier.

  • Michael McGuire

Do you want me to send a Group message, Dick. I'll just say it's an "informal" paint-out.

  • Karen Scannell

I'll go earlier, as I may have to go 12 or 1pm

  • Dick Donaghue

Yes please Michael, send it.. I'll be there in the car park beside the castle as there are 4 car parks in the hotel!.

  • Dick Donaghue

10am. Meet in castle car park

  • Michael McGuire

OK, I'll send it now, Dick. 10 am in the public car park at Ferrycarraig.

  • Dick Donaghue

Marja and Myself are thinking of Creignamanagh this coming Sunday. I checked that the Waterside restaurant is open all day. WE could meet there 10.30/11 am for coffee..... Weather is looking partly cloudy...
