To Post an Event: Click 'Events', Click 'Add', Fill in the data form. NB.'Name' refers to the title of the event (usually the venue), not your name. Add a photo if you have one (try Google images). Fill in the description, Date, and other details. You can add a Google map reference if you have one. When completed, click 'Add Event' at the bottom of the page. You then have the option of inviting your Plein Eire friends or press 'Skip' to just upload your Event. When it is uploaded, copy the address bar and paste it to a comment on your Group Page, so all members of your Group will receive an alert.
NB. South East Plein Eire members are holding a quick get-together at 8pm on Monday 25th August in T.Morris Bar, Wexford, to discuss ways to get the paint-outs going regularly again. All welcome to come along or make your suggestions known on this page. Thanks and hope to see you there.
Hope to be there. I plan to suggest a new group covering South Kildare, Carlow, South and West Wicklow, North Wexford, Kilkenny, Waterford and a bit of Laois. In other words within striking distance of the M8 motorway. The overall aim would be to be complimentary to South East, Dublin and Boyne Valley Groups. This might mean arranging paint- outs which do not conflict with neighbouring groups. i.e arranging paint-outs on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Can't make it on the 25th. Hope you have a good evening. As a new member I am willing to offer a lift for one or two to a future paint out (only have a small car). I live near Enniscorthy.
There's that rusty old hulk near Saltmills although the nearest coffee is the Gala up in Saltmills village. Good to paint it before it rusts away but as a subject, its not everyone's cup of tea. But I'm open to any other suggestions?
(The Port Lairge was the last working steam ship in Ireland based in Waterford. Her rusting hulk now lies beached in Bannow Bay near Saltmills).
Re Paintout in Leiglinbridge today....I have put some photos on pix.ie - this is my first attempt to do so.......if you want to see them my account is geraldineart
Will someone let me know if they can find them.....lol!
I would like to thank George for organizing the paint out today in St Mullins. A brilliant turn out. So good to meet up with y'all. Photos to follow but due to (1) flat camera battery, (2) technical problems logging into pix.ie......(3) technophobia....this might take some time!
Thanks Geraldine. In turn I would like to thank all who came along to St Mullins yesterday. It was great to see the usual suspects and some very welcome new colleagues. I hope that the big turnout augurs well for the future.
Paint Out in Irish National Heritage Center on Sunday 23rd Nov. All welcome. Great restaurant and lots of interesting things to paint from Ancient Ireland! Crannógs, Straw huts, Dolmens, Celtic Church, Standing Stones, Corn drying KIln etc etc...
The long range weather is Partial Sunny 12 degrees C
Dear SEPA member, Here is an announcement of a fabulous opportunity to take part in a 5-day plein air event and show in the USA.
Annapolis in Maryland, is twinned with Wexford and for several years the city, with its fishing harbour and naval base has held its own plein air event, called 'Paint Annapolis'. It is a fun but prestigious event with some outstanding artists and substantial awards to be won. Last year there were 27 juried artists. Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association which oversees 'Paint Annapolis', is artist David Diaz, who is a great friend and supporter of our own national event, 'Art in the Open'. In a spirit of mutual friendship, David has lobbied for a place at Paint Annapolis to be reserved for one artist resident in Co. Wexford. The 'Paint Annapolis' 2015 applications go 'live' in a few days. It will be a juried event. Apply through the website in the knowledge that one County Wexford artist will be going! And it could be YOU!
Thanks for that, sure a few of us might as well throw our hat in the ring and see if we can get a spot at the five day event in June. Plenty of time as applications can go in till February, I was making enquiries about it myself and a couple of other plein air events in the USA.
Looked at the film the other day and it looks a lovely place. Karen speaks very well on it, as does David and a few other artists who we have met both here and in the states.
Sure no harm in trying to get juried into a couple of events over there specially if they run concurrently.
OH is anyone thinkin of going to PLEIN AIR CONVENTION 2015 ??? I am THINKING of going, anyone else??
Its in April in Monterey California. fantastic place and event. Jane Meyler and I have attended the first two conventions, in las Vegas and Monterey, This is the last year it will be in Monterey, plans are afoot for a different venue in 2016. If you are thinkin of going, let me know.
Paint Annapolis - I hadn't seen the video.. great memories. I was lucky enough to be juried onto the event last year, which set the wheels in motion for a fantastic experience in the wonderful city of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County...made all the more special by our friends David and Ardis Diaz, and many other artists that I had known online, and finally met. Annapolis and surrounds is very beautiful, with a lot of effort placed on preserving the heritage of the county. Prepare for the heat , and alota fun :) .....
I managed to delete a lot of my photos from my trip so unfortunately I can't share them ..but here's a link to my blog :-
Hi Everyone, A few of us have been talking about getting out to paint in the New Year, with talk of mince pies and mulled wine to coax us out.... Friday's weather looks favorable....anyone interested ? We were planning somewhere in south Wexford as a couple of our painting pals are visiting there? Happy New Year ! Karen
Are we still on for tomorrow? Forecast still looks OK, except for cold wind, so maybe some place with a bit of shelter. Any thoughts on a suitable place to paint?
yes the mill is a good meeting place and close to lots of places to Paint. good thinking, that would be right up my alley anyway handy and everything and very handy for D and John etc
