We'll be heading to Edermine Forest, near Enniscorthy Co. Wexford, this day Week.. Sunday 18th August..

  • Terence Gillespie

Enjoy. Very sorry to miss this. Away.

  • Karen Scannell

Not to worry terry, there'll be another soon enough before Autumn takes a hold....

  • Karen Scannell

Sorry all, change of plan for next Sunday, as Bargy Castle is now available to us for Sunday 18th August.. A new venue, which will be nice to explore..Further details on the event page...

  • David Goldberg

Can someone please send me directions to Bargy Castle. It's not on my maps. I will be coming from Kilkenny.

Bargy Castle: After Rosslare roundabout, take direction Rosslare Harbour. Turn right direction Kilmore Quay. Just after Greenacres pub on your right, turn left and you will come to a crossroad. Take a left turn and the entrance of Bargy Castle is on your right.

  • David Goldberg

Coming from Kilkenny do I go trough Thomastown? Where is the Rosslare roundabout? David

  • Karen Scannell

Hi David, here's the route to Rosslare Harbor on Google maps : Link

You'll go through Tomastown, New Ross. When you near Wexford, you'll come to a roundabout, turn right ,(heading towards Rosslare). Drive straight through the second Roundabout(Whitford Roundabout), Then at the third Roundabout(This is known as The Rosslare Roundabout) turn Right...then follow the directions below

    Karen

    Thanks.

Hiya, is the group going to paint somewhere this Sunday, 25 August?

  • Karen Scannell

Hi Lynne,  Boredale Forest near Edermine Co. Wexford has been earmarked for this Sunday (an impromptu paint out). Sorry I'm a bit late to post. Thanks for your suggestions under the discussion forum.. We were in Ferns earlier in the year, during their Medieval Festival..Couple of great spots there alright..and Leighlinbridge is a great spot too..maybe we can go to that location you suggested.. Travel is a bit of an issue this year with the cost of petrol, but maybe we can carpool for that location...

  • Karen Scannell

Many thanks to Bernadette Doolin for this : ..

From wex.Thru oylegate.take left for bree.over edermine bridge.come to a t junction.turn right.follow this road for couple of km.then boredale is on the right handside on a bend in the road.you will see the car park.if you were to continue on there is a garage that you can get coffees sambo etc.

  • Bea Jordan

Would Huntington Castle in Clonegal be an option. Thank you all for a fab Art in the Open Fest.
  • Karen Scannell

Hi Bea, Dunleckney Manor, near Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow has been suggested by Lynn. Huntington Castle is certainly another option. AIO had one of it's paintouts there last year, and a return trip beckons. But if it's favorable to everyone, we may look at Dunlecky Manor first, as we haven't been there before. We'll need a couple of weeks to arrange that one, and I'll post as soon as there's confirmation. This Sunday, the general consensus is Currolcoe (Meet @ Ravenwood) Co. Wexford...details will be posted later today...thanks for the suggestion !

Giving rain for Sunday..how do people feel about a paint out somewhere ??

  • Michael McGuire

I think tomorrow may be dry but cold in the South East, Karen. Latest forecast is that rain will be confined to Ulster and North Leinster, but rain will spread everywhere from the West in the evening/overnight. If it's dry, I'd be up for a paint-out somewhere local.

  • Karen Scannell

Grand so..I was thinking about Ballycross, but haven t heard back from them yet..maybe we shoukd leave that one for better weather.. Kilmore Quay, Safe harbour, Forth Mountain..Quay in Wexford..or how about Redmond Park, which funny enough , we ve never painted..or any other suggestion...any thoughts ?
  • Lynne Mac Chonnchradha

How about Ferns and Ferns Castle?  At least the castle has a tea room, toilets, and shelter from the rain (if the forecast is off!)

  • Michael McGuire

Ballycross sounds good. I think the weather will be OK!

  • Louise Treacy

Thatx would be handy not too far to go
  • Karen Scannell

We usually give ballycross notice before going there..I don't think I can make it tomorrow, so whatever suits you guys....

  • Tony Robinson

I missed the last one there. If its a half-decent day, I'll go as well.

  • Lynne Mac Chonnchradha

Could someone please send a link to a google map for Ballycross?

  • Tony Robinson

  • Karen Scannell

I was sorry to have missed Ballycross last week...anyone interested in a return visit ? ?

  • Michael McGuire

I wouldn't mind going back if the day is reasonably bright.

  • Louise Treacy

Imissed it too my back was in a jock. Maybe Sunday again ill keep an eye on the site .
  • Lynne Mac Chonnchradha

Ditto.  Not my back, just too tired to paint.  That's a sad state of affairs!!  I'll watch the site also. Thx, Karen!

  • Karen Scannell

Great.. Ballycross Apple Farm it is !

  • Michael McGuire

Forecast is looking a bit dodgy! Hopefully Met Eireann is wrong about Sunday.

  • Louise Treacy

Yes forecast is for a lot of rain Sunday but sure we may Walt and see what its like!! If its any way reasonable ill be there,
hopefully it won't be all that wet .
  • Plein Eire Administrator

    And...they're off!! SEPA's first paint-out of 2014 here at last: http://pleineire.ning.com/events/sepa-paint-out-to-duncormick-sunda...

  • Tony Robinson

Forecast for Sunday looks okay so I hope to be out somewhere to hunt up some inspiration. Anyone else?

  • Michael McGuire

Yeah, I'd love to, especially since I missed Duncormick.

  • Tomas King

I hope to be able to join you.

  • Tony Robinson

After a hasty vox-pop at Karen Scannell's Swallows' Nest life-drawing session, Tintern Abbey it is for Sunday's paint-out.

    See here: http://pleineire.ning.com/events/sepa-paint-out-to-tintern-abbey

  • Tony Robinson

The forecast is chilly but bright so I'm heading up to Courtown near Gorey and expect to be there about 11.15am somewhere down by the harbour for a coffee before starting.

Anyone who knows the place better than I do could perhaps recommend a cafe? Hope to see anyone else who wants to get out and paint...

  • Tony Robinson

Looks like the Taravie Hotel at the Harbour or, failing that being open, the Fisherman's Wharf across the road from it will be our first port of call for a caffeine hit.

  • Tony Robinson

Was hoping to see if there's any bit of craic happening on Sunday but must admit the forecast isn't too promising. If it turns out fine in the sunny S.E. I'll post here where I'm off to and anyone is welcome along.

  • Michael McGuire

Looks like it's going to be a wet day unfortunately.

  • liz kavanagh

Hi , delighted to be a member of the south east group .

  • Tony Robinson
