Wonderful painting- and think it's so important to chronicle our lovely round barns- they softly nestle into the Irish landscape and the ugly sharp contoured slatted sheds have taken over- for understandable practical reasons- but so unaesthetic..!! Smashing work Sally...

Thanks for that John.

This worked out well for you Sally, the path leading to the shadowed area in the barn creates the interest!

Thanks again! Norah for all that. The cow parsley has all sorts of names - QueenAnnesLace , Devils Bread. And because it's very like Hemlock, which is deadly poisonous kids were told that it was Mothers Die I.e if you picked it your mother would die! A good deterrent.

I love your palette Sally, the gentle violets on the path against that lovely gentle green and of course the lovely cow parsley all tying together to make the barn stand out - wonderful paitning. I went out sketching cow parsley yesterday and then found some giant hogweed and I believe there is also cow parsnip !

Thanks Sean you all made it look so easy I thought I should have a go myself..  Weed is cow parsley I believe. Giant Hogweed is a huge version of it.

Well  observed, Sally,  as I tried to observe it myself. Those flowers look so well, I can't think of their quite mundane name.     And the overgrown lane pulls the whole scene together nicely.
