Event Description

Barntown Quarry is an interesting site to paint just a couple of miles outside Wexford. It can be a bit mucky underfoot if its been raining, but it is well worth the trouble.

Directions from south: From Mountain Bar on the New Line Road (R733 Wexford to Wellingtonbridge), turn North. Follow the road right, uphill to its apex. Take the wide track to the right (just after a very modern dwelling set back on the right and the quarry is approx 250metres drive further along. park at the boulders.
Or, from the Maldron Hotel Roundabout on N25 just outside Wexford:take New Ross exit, then first exit left (signed for the famous Paul Maloney Pottery). Drive uphill about 3km to a T-junction, take left and then immediate right turn. Drive further 100 metres and then take a right fork marked in stone 'Matts Lane'. This brings you to the other side of the quarry to the southern approach but it is a small site so you should have no trouble finding other painters. Again, park near the stone boulders.

with the paints if not the dog will have a good walk!!! Fingers crossed

Was looking forward to this one but you would choose Imelda's birthday. Afternoon could be nice. Enjoy.

Too wild at the minute to be worth the trip, folks. I'll take a look out at 1pm to see if the afternoon is more promising and will post if I'm going. Anyone else welcome to post if you're going to chance it or take the opportunity to do your Sky self-portrait entries!!.
