At the end of WWII the baron "van Sijtzema" was murdered by the nazis. His wife left the house, closed the doors and never got back. The clock at the front stopped at the time of the killing.

Wow..... love hearing the “ back story” to a painting/ location... and the trailing boughs of the trees add to the eerie atmosphere......
