Plein Eire

Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

Well, as we are all doing our best to self isolate at the current time, it is nice to relieve some of the trying hours by indulging in some painting. Because of the 'lockdown' restrictions it is a great excuse to catch up on some work in the studio, spare room or on the kitchen table. Staying safe now is our main priority, and staying indoors is our best way of helping those health care workers on the front-line to cope with their daunting and dangerous work. Here are two I did recently from sketches and notes made when it was easier to get out.

'Carne Beach' and 'Gathering Storm over Wexford'.  Both were done on Saunders Waterford rough paper and measure 10ins.x7ins. and 19ins.x13ins. respectively.

Cheers Cathal, thank you. Yea foregrounds can sometimes be a nightmare, but happy with these.

I love the skill, accuracy and the confidence in your use watercolour. Your skies, the beach and the fishing boats. Excellent.

Yes Kevin, its always best to keep busy. I've taken the oils out of storage ,its like learning all over again but I'll persevere. We have been mostly indoors since13th March so we are used to it by now. Great to see your studio work and I look forward to seeing more.

Well said Kevin, and these are two powerful  examples of what can be done in the hiatus. The 19 by13 is just gorgeous, gifted with the drawing you are. They will look stunning mounted and framed. Really well done my friend. More Please!!
