As this is the year that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of arguably the greatest composer that ever lived, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), I thought I would try doing a portrait of him as I am a fan of classical music. For this I decided to return to my original working media of pen and ink. It took a while but am quite satisfied with the result.

Portraits and life drawing not my usual forte, but have to say I enjoyed doing this.

Wow Kevin that's stunning, more of the pen and ink please.

Thank you Norah, I gave up on dip pens years ago as like you I found the ink didn't flow that well, and when it did it more often resulted in blots. Nowadays I use Uni Pin fine liner pens in a range of nib sizes from 1 to 5. Much handier.

That is beautiful Kevin, a lesson in pen and ink. I struggle with a dip pen, they never seem to deliver ink to the paper for me but its a medium I love
