trees in my garden

Had to change the sky in this a few times. First attempt and I got rained out of it. Finished this on Monday. The shapes of the trees caught my eye and how they arch almost together. When I was finished a beautiful rainbow appeared that evening but I hadnt got the bottle to go in and try to add this. Think thats another painting

Love the arching shapes of the trees and its picked up again in the grasses, think you are right about the rainbow but I add these plein air paintings in to a word doc and write a few lines about the happenings during the painting and they make nice little stories (?) for browsing through in the winter

The shape makes an interesting design, Anne. Next time, try to look for differences between and within greens. Remember that horizontal planes will always pick up some sky colour even if in shadow. So as a general rule, horizontal planes in shadow will be lighter in value than vertical ones. They also tend to be cooler (bluer). There are also usually differences between horizontal and vertical planes in sunlight, most obviously when the sun is either very high or low in the sky.
