Plein Eire

Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

It's amazing how quiet this site gets during AITO! Looks like everyone has been painting in Wexford last week! This was my first painting of the festival. On an overcast afternoon with frequent passing showers in Bunclody, I found myself immediately to the interesting patterns in the water here.

Thanks Ed. I think I've learnt that if you take the time to look around, there's always something interesting to paint, even on overcast days like this.

Well imagined, Well painted.

Thanks Sean. Yes, I know what you mean, but there's a fine balance in catching the illusion of moving water between making the brushwork too defined and just having a muddy mess. I think I just stopped short of the latter this time!

Nice painting, Michael.   Love the brushiness of the reflected lights. It's very difficult to put down a mark with a brush and just leave it.
