18x24 Oil in Cotton. Won First Place Non Professional Group at Annual Plein Air Gathering Hamilton County Artists Association. A crew came along and moved the train half way through the session! Had to finish from memory.

Comment by Myles Murphy on June 10, 2013 at 15:28: Thanks Karen. I wonder is there is or has there previously been a Forum on the subject of defining professional versus non-professional? I felt a sense of guilt entering this competition after spending 5 years trying to make a tax profit as an artist (and failing miserably). The standard drops dramatically and it does not seem fair to compete. Even though I am way below the skills of many Indiana artists who work as professionals, I enjoy showing in that category. I have to make my mind up as to what I am!!

If there has not been a discussion on this subject, I would like to read opinions.
