Fence-Row Poppies

These poppies were bouncing around in the wind just begging to be noticed. The site was so beautiful that I needed to share, hope you enjoy this.

I really like the play of depth in this painting.  Takes you right in.

Thanks Catherine, definitely will apply your tips in my next and future painting sessions, I know it will take time to be able to actually just"apply and leave the pain" its all practice. I heard its tha same with watercolour, apply the paint and leave it to do its work. I know it doesn work entirely like that with oils or acrylics but I think it's about wanting to correct things and then we mess it up. The painting will look "tired" then. Its great to have you a s friend. Thanks! :-)

Catherine - a great gallery and I love these poppies, we only seem to have red ones here which are beautiful too.  I know what you mean about using thin paint - I do watercolours and when I started oils they all looked like wc but now I am trying to use thicker paint too but you look as if you are not having too many problems as this is wonderful

Thank you Dagmara!  I'd love to have a workshop, will let you know when and if! One thing I have learned lately is to pile more paint onto the surface, at least with the lighter colors.  I have a habit of painting too thinly, like "staining" the surface, but applying paint with thick brushstrokes gives a better effect.  Another tip I am applying is - not to overwork it by piddling, another bad habit I had developed .  Just to brush on the paint and leave it alone works better.  : )
