Latest Activity: on Friday

SEPA is an association of amateur and professional painters who paint together regularly outdoors in S.E. Ireland. All artists are welcome. SEPA organises Ireland's 'Art in the Open' plein air festival. SEPA membership is free. NB. As with all Paint-Outs posted on Plein Eire, these events are simply notifications of intent by one individual to be at a particular place and time to paint. Each member's participation is entirely at his/her own risk. No responsibility for harm or loss of person or property on the part of anyone else is intended or implied.

For photos of SEPA's previous paint outs, click on this link: SEPA photos

Here are a few ideas for paint-out venues. Please add your own suggestions and we'll get a schedule together for the coming weeks. Your addfitional recommendations welcome.

Ballinkeele House

Newtownbarry House & Gardens

Dunamore Wood (Borodale) (no facilities)

Rosslare Harbour Lagoon

Tinahely

Wexford Beaches

Wexford Gardens

The Still Pond, near Enniscorthy

As ever, it is weather permitting, so in case the organiser needs to cancel, please indicate by RSVP for each event so a single message will let everyone know if an event is 'On' or 'Off'.

In particular, it seems smaller villages where we have access to coffee and a bite and a chance to say'hello' are sought-after venues. Here are some suggestions:

We're off to Wexford Wildfowl Reseve this Sunday 27th !

Guinness World Records, known until 2000 as The Guinness Book of Records has its origins in the North Slob. On 4 May 1951, Sir Hugh Beaver, then the managing director of the Guinness Breweries,[4] was on a shooting party in the North Slob when he became involved in an argument over which was the fastest game bird in Europe, the koshin golden plover or the grouse. That evening at Castlebridge House he realised that it was impossible to confirm in reference books whether or not the golden plover was Europe's fastest game bird.[5][6] He knew that there must be numerous other questions debated nightly in pubs in Britain and Ireland, but there was no book with which to settle arguments about records. He realised then that a book supplying the answers to this sort of question might prove popular.

As an uninitiated Plein Air novice, am hoping I might be able to - finally - join in today.  Need info re where, timing, etc.

I think I've just managed to do that, Karen.

We did say whenever the weather looks good, we should take another trip to Baginbun Head......so I'm happy to head there tomorrow, as we might not get another chance for a while.....

Do you want to post it as an event Michael ? If you can find your last Baginbun event posting( under last months events)..it can be edited for tomorrow's date

What about Raven Wood Curracloe co. Wexford?

Comment by Michael McGuire on May 11, 2012 at 18:40

The weather looks promising, Karen. How about another visit to Baginbun Head? Or Dunmore East, if anyone is prepared to travel a little further. I'm on for a paint-out anyway.
