Plein Eire Dublin Paint-Outs

A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.

Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.

RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .

  1. Nominate a time and location with reasonable painting prospects.
  2. Identify a local cafe or hostelry for artists to meet in before and after.
  3. Indicate if there is parking available nearby, and if its free or metered.
  4. Post the suggestion to 'Events'and copy and paste the link to the Comment Wall below on this page.

Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Farmleigh sounds like a good site for the first outing, at the moment I should be free to be there.

Hi
I think Phoenix Park/Farmleigh is great idea - Shall we say Farmeligh Car Park at 12 noon?. Disperse from there and meet up at Boathouse Coffee Shop at 3? I'll be there from 11.45 with easel up to mark presence.

I agree, Phoenix park has some great locations.
I am very disappointed I will be missing the first meet up, but I booked 3 workshops for Saturdays in September some time ago. Enjoy the day, I look forward to hearing all about it!

That sounds like a great idea. There is a very nice coffee shop/restaurant beside the walled garden at Ashtown Castle. The garden's not bad either - blooming lovely actually.

I will be somewhere along the Liffey that day John and was going to bring my paints - it is Liffey Descent day (canoe race), which starts at Straffan Weir and finishes at Islandbridge. I will do my best to join you all - phoenix park would be handy for parking and Farmleigh has gardens and buildings, toilets and coffee shop - just a suggestion

Hi all,
To jump start Plein Eire Dublin, (and in the absence of suggestions!) I and one other member have decided that the inaugural Paint Out will be on Sat, Sept 4 at 12noon. Where?-suggestions please! If none offered one will be imposed, by late Sun 22 Aug, (as I am away the following week!). I think somewhere on the western fringes may be best, as those from north and south Dublin are equidistant; somewhere where joe public isnt likely to be looking over artists' shoulders, and somewhere with a variety of aspects to paint (water, architecture, countryside...?) Perhaps the format should be: meet up, introduce ourselves, disperse, meet up for a drink, bite to eat after three hours....?
Looking forward to meeting you all,
JOHN O FLYNN

I'd love to join a Plein air group anywhere in the northern Pale.
